Book the BandSan Antonio is the closest major market to us — about 80 miles and an hour and a half down I-35. In practical terms that makes it the cheapest big-city booking we do, because there is usually no lodging to pay for and no travel day either side. We load in, play, and are home the same night.
It also means we treat the whole corridor as one region. Some of our best-remembered dates near San Antonio have been just outside it: Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort over in Boerne, Boerne BierFest, and Fiddler's Gruene Event Center in New Braunfels. Add private bookings in San Antonio itself, Spring Branch and Helotes, and the Hill Country side of this market is genuinely well covered for us.
The events here split fairly cleanly. In the city it is corporate work and hotel-ballroom weddings. Outside it, in the hill country between Boerne, Bulverde and New Braunfels, it is resort events, ranch parties and outdoor wedding receptions — which is some of our favorite work, and the kind of room a 90s country band was built for.

A lot of what gets called a San Antonio booking actually happens thirty or forty minutes outside it, at a resort or a ranch somewhere between Boerne and New Braunfels. Those venues are the reason we keep a full sound and lighting rig available: many of them are beautiful open-air spaces with no permanent PA, limited power, and a hard curfew set by a noise ordinance rather than by the bride.
Gruene in particular is a room type worth understanding. The dance-hall tradition around Gruene and New Braunfels means the crowd there arrives expecting to dance, not to watch. We build those sets around two-step and waltz tempos and keep the ballads short, which is a different running order from a corporate party in the city.
Because we are only ninety minutes away, San Antonio is also the market where we can most often help with a late change of plan — a canceled act, a date that moved, a second night nobody planned for. It is never guaranteed, but it is worth asking.
